Model 300 Crime Scene Kit This is the ultimate crime scene kit. Segmented into separate tasks, this kit will allow you to dust for latent prints on nearly any surface using the included standard and magnetic latent print powders, as well as develop latent prints using fluorescent powders on difficult surfaces and backgrounds. The included ultraviolet light source assists in fluorescent latent print development and searches for physical evidence. TEX Ultra Light Magnetic Applicator Designed by JR Davis, retired from the Houston Police Department, TEX can be used at hazardous crime scenes and then the outside cover discarded. A new cover is put on and you can continue working. This will help prevent contamination from surface to surface, from your brush to your kit and from your brush to your jar of powder. Each TEX disposable magnetic brush comes with four additional replacement covers, so it is like having five clean, new brushes to work with. 3"x5" Numbered White Latent Cards (Pack of 1000) Latent prints lifted with clear or frosted tape are mounted on the glossy side of the latent card. The non-glossy side is for case information and a rough sketch of the recovery location of the latent print. The card may be used to accommodate a row of three or four latent prints, thereby maintaining each print in relation to its neighbor-a great help when trying to determine which hand, or the position of the hand, on the object. It can also accommodate a wider width of lifting tape. The latent prints can be viewed or exhibited separately from the case data (on reverse side of card), which avoids influencing the viewer. The card has sufficient space for writing the needed information, such as the case number, date, crime type, victim, address, location of the latent print recovery, the person lifting the latent and their badge or identification number. It also has sufficient room for a sketch or other remarks. The white cards are preprinted with a gray ink, which prevents any of the lines or data from showing through to the other side of the card to interfere with the photography of the latent prints. The Numbered backing cards can help prevent the inclusion of fabricated latent prints by providing additional documentation.

Crystal Violet, 25 Grams Use Crystal Violet to develop latent fingerprints on the adhesive side of almost any kind of tape, e.g., Scotch, electrical, Kraft, etc. Mix the powder in water, soak the tape in the solution and rinse with running tap water. The caution about working with Crystal Violet powder or solution is that it is a very messy dye and will stain skin, clothes, floors and counter tops. It may be very difficult, if not impossible, to remove the stains from some clothing, furniture and floor covering. Crystal Violet is also often used as a "theft detection powder." The item is first VERY lightly dusted with the powder and when the item comes into contact with moisture (for example, the thief's hands), it turns dark purple and stains anything that comes into contact with it. However, this use is NOT suggested due to the messy nature of the product and the fact that the stains DO NOT come out of most surfaces. NOTE: More Info in the Long Description Shelf-life of Crystal Violet powder: indefinite. The working solution should not be kept much longer than 3-6 months. While older solutions may continue to work, the results might not be as good.

White Cotton Evidence Handling Gloves (1 Dozen) These lightweight, white cotton gloves are ideal for eliminating the problem of leaving your own latent prints on evidence when dusting these items with powder. These will also be very useful around the photo lab to keep your prints off of the negatives and for document examiners during humid weather to keep any perspiration off the document. Because of the low price, once these gloves become dirty, these gloves are considered disposable. One size fits all, ambidextrous.
